Eyelid Surgery - Blepharoplasty
Do you look in the mirror and see tired droopy eyes, even
after a good nights rest? Loose skin over your eyes and
the fat bags under your eyes may make you look more tired
and older that you feel inside. It may be time to consider
eyelid surgery.
Each year thousands of men and women choose eyelid surgery
to help restore a more youthful and energetic appearance.
Eyelid surgery can:
- Correct sagging tired, droopy eyelids.
- Remove fatty pouches beneath the eyes.
- Remove excess skin from the upper lids.
- Restore a more youthful appearance.
Blepharoplasty of the upper lid: A fine incision is made
in the crease above each eye.thin crescent of excess skin
and muscle is removed and the incision closed with a very
fine suture.
Blepharoplasty of the lower lid: A fine incision is made
just inside the lower lid and the fat is removed. The incision
may be closed with absorbable sutures or left to heal naturally.
The procedure may take one or two hours depending on the
extent of surgery, and is performed as an out-patient procedure.
When the procedure is done alone, not with a facelift, it
is generally done under local anesthesia.
Recovery: The patient should keep their
head up-right and place cold compresses on the eyes periodically.
Antibiotic eye drops may be prescribed for several days.
Contact lenses should not be used for at least two weeks
following surgery. Make-up can be applied after the sutures
are removed.
