VISIA® Complexion Analysis, the first skin care photographic
imaging tool that provides clinical measurement of surface
and subsurface facial skin conditions, is changing the face
of professional skin care.
"VISIA is a new technology that makes it possible
for a client to receive facial rejuvenation and skin care
treatments designed specifically for their unique complexion
profile," said Jim Larkey, VISIA product manager for
Canfield Imaging Systems.
Developed by Procter & Gamble and Canfield Imaging
Systems, VISIA systems are now in worldwide use by cosmetic
surgeons, dermatologists, and other medical and skin care
professionals.
The VISIA Complexion Analysis System is a self-contained
unit that captures multi-spectral photos of the face, examining
the complexion for wrinkles, spots, pores, texture (color
variation in the skin tone), porphyrins (evidence of bacteria
in pores),and UV spots (characteristic of photodamage, typically
from overexposure to sun).
Additionally, VISIA grades an individuals skin features
relative to others of the same age and skin type.
VISIA imaging and analysis helps medical and skin care
professionals develop more targeted treatment programs,
communicate more effectively with clients, and better track
treatment outcomes.
"The VISIA system measures skin features that previously
could only be evaluated subjectively," Larkey said,
"providing the capability to provide facial rejuvenation
and skin care matched to each persons unique complexion
profile."
By objectively establishing skin condition, VISIAs
comprehensive measurement of a clients standard and
UV photos makes it very easy for the client to see and understand
exactly what is being discussed regarding skin renewal treatment
options.
Based on the complexion profile, the clients facial
rejuvenation program can also include optimized recommendations
for ongoing skin care health, with VISIA imaging as an invaluable
aid in monitoring complexion vitality and checking effectiveness
of the skin care regimen over time.
"Every client who is imaged with VISIA can also receive
a printed skin analysis report to take home," Larkey
said. The VISIA reports include analysis results and treatment
recommendations from the clients skin care professional.
With ever-growing interest in antiaging and lifestyle-driven
procedures, VISIA Complexion Analysis is a valuable new
tool for use by medical and skin care professionals in working
with clients to provide advanced skin care treatments to
enhance complexion vitality and appearance.
